9 Days Luxury Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Nyungwe and Akagera Safari

After breakfast at Kigali Serena Hotel, you will check out and begin the scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s rolling hills, countryside towns, farmlands and beautiful mountain landscapes.
On arrival in the Volcanoes region, you will check in at One&Only Gorilla’s Nest. This luxury lodge offers comfort, privacy and easy access to Volcanoes National Park, making it an excellent base for gorilla trekking. The rest of the day is spent relaxing at the lodge and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trekking experience.

After an early breakfast at One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, your guide will transfer you to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and briefing. The park rangers will explain the gorilla trekking rules, safety guidelines and forest etiquette before assigning you to a gorilla family.
You will then enter the forest with experienced ranger guides in search of mountain gorillas. The trek can take a few hours depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family, but the experience is rewarding from the beginning because of the forest scenery, fresh mountain air and volcanic slopes.
Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, rest, groom, play and move through their natural habitat. After the trek, you will return to One&Only Gorilla’s Nest for lunch, relaxation, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at Kigali Serena Hotel, you will check out and transfer to the airport for your domestic flight from Kigali to Kamembe. This flight reduces the long road journey to Nyungwe and gives the safari a smoother luxury flow.
On arrival at Kamembe, you will be welcomed and transferred by road to One&Only Nyungwe House, located near Nyungwe Forest National Park. The lodge offers a peaceful luxury stay surrounded by tea estates and forest scenery.
The rest of the day is for relaxation at the lodge as you prepare for chimpanzee trekking the following morning. You may enjoy the lodge atmosphere, fresh forest air and beautiful views around the property.

After an early breakfast at One&Only Nyungwe House, your guide will transfer you to the chimpanzee trekking starting point in Nyungwe Forest National Park. After registration and briefing, you will enter the forest with experienced park guides in search of chimpanzees.
Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe is an exciting forest experience because chimpanzees are active, vocal and often move quickly through the trees. As you walk through the forest, you may also enjoy the sounds of birds, forest life and the natural beauty of one of Rwanda’s most important rainforest destinations.
Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend time watching them as they feed, move, call and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, you will return to One&Only Nyungwe House for lunch and a relaxed afternoon at the lodge.

After breakfast at One&Only Nyungwe House, you will check out and transfer to Kamembe Airport for your domestic flight back to Kigali. This flight helps reduce long road travel and keeps the safari comfortable.
On arrival in Kigali, you will continue to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s main savannah wildlife destination. The journey introduces a different side of Rwanda, with open landscapes, lakes, wetlands and classic safari scenery.
On arrival in Akagera National Park, you will check in at Wilderness Magashi. The rest of the day is for relaxation at the lodge, with the possibility of an afternoon safari activity depending on arrival time.

After breakfast at Wilderness Magashi, you will enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing in Akagera National Park. The park is known for its beautiful savannah landscapes, lakes, wetlands and wildlife diversity.
During your game drives, you may look for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles and predators such as lions and leopards. Your guide will help you explore the best wildlife areas depending on animal movement and the day’s conditions.
You may also enjoy a relaxed safari experience around Lake Ihema, where boat safari arrangements can be included depending on the final program. After the day’s activities, you will return to Wilderness Magashi for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at Wilderness Magashi, you will check out and begin your return journey to Kigali. Depending on your departure time, you may enjoy a final relaxed morning at the lodge before leaving Akagera National Park.
On arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or at Kigali Serena Hotel depending on your onward travel plan. This marks the end of your 9 Days Luxury Rwanda Gorilla Trekking, Nyungwe & Akagera Safari.
